Review of Aashiqui 2
Producer: Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar and Mukesh Bhatt
Director: Mohit Suri
Starring: Aditya Roy Kapur, Shardha Kapoor, Shaad Randhawa and Mahesh Thakur
Star Rating: 2 Stars
What`s Good: Aditya Roy Kapur`s performance, few songs, hot chemistry of leading pair
What`s Bad: The script, the direction, first half and few performances.
(SCRIPT)
Aashiqui 2 is not the sequal to Aashiqui (1990), it is the second installment of this romance saga. Story, screenplay and dialogues of the film are penned by Bhatts favourite writer Shagufta Rafique. This time Shagufta failed to pen any memorable moment in this romance. Her story is quite simple and it resemble with previous Aashiqui (1990). Nothing is new addition in this film. Every stuff (love and jealousy) is old and outdated. Screenplay of the film is very badly written. Slow pace of the film, make it boaring in few parts. Film open with the yester year`s music sensation, Rahul Jaikar (Aditya). At a local bar in Goa, he spots Arohi (Shardha Kapoor), singing his famous number with more passion than him. An impressed Rahul decides to build her career in singing. While slowly he finds himself falling in love with her, her sucess is the reason of Rahul`s failure, with Rahul settling for being a sucessfull woman`s shadow. Then, what happens in their life, it is all about the climax. Dialogues of the film are very lazy and meaningless. There is not even a single dialogue, which can make you cry from the heart in this hardcore romance. So, Shagufta Rafique`s script is below to the mark.
(PERFORMANCES)
Aditya Roy Kapur is top on the game if we talk about the performances. He nailed the character of Rahul Jaiker, with his effortless performance. He is the pillar of the film and his alchohalic character gives a unique feel to his character. His dialogue delievery and facial expressions are up to the mark. He proved that he is the talented devar (brother-in-law) of talented bhabhi (Vidya Balan). Shardha Kapoor is good as Aarohi. But she looses in emotional scenes. She really needs to learn some acting skills from his bad man father (Shakti Kapoor). But her chemistry with Aditya is marvellous. Mahesh Thakur and Shaad Randhawa are above average in their limited roles.
(Music)
As we all know, Aashiqui is a musical romance. Multiple composers have made tunes for this romantic Saga. The man who is behind the beautifull melodies, is none other than Arijit Singh. His song 'Tum Hi Ho' is the show stealler and still on the top charts of every radio. 'Hum Mar Jaayenge' is an class appealing and struggling to be a hit chartbuster.
(DIRECTION)
The captain of the ship, Mohit Suri, has don the cap of director for this film. I think this time every thing is not in the favour of Mohit, because of worst script. His vision of film making failed to narrate the story in entertaining manner. Aashiqui 2 is looking like a documentry on Alchohal.
(My Word)
Aashiqui 2 is an hardcore romance, which can impress to the classes but can be failed to entertain masses, because of lack of good story line. But, i will recommend you to watch it for Aditya Roy Kapur`s brilliant performance.
